Human Carelessness

I felt the intensity
of the emanating flames,
and stared at the blaze
from which they came.
They grew in size
to abominable height,
engulfed within them
all forms of life.
As trees were charred
there ceased a debate,
the power of fire
to annihilate.
The devastation
of a forest of trees,
and the animals burned
from the developing siege.
It’s hard to relate
the putrid stench,
the cremated carcasses
could make you wrench.
All this destruction
might not have evolved,
if a careless person
had not been involved.
For people who act
with carelessness,
can leave only death
and waste and unrest.
